MA in Applied Economics *

Using economic principles and data to address real-world development challenges

The programme will equip you to understand the complexity of development challenges at all levels, from national and state-level issues to those faced by local urban and rural communities, through a deep engagement with the field using quantitative and qualitative data. Our goal is to train graduates who apply economic principles and tools to real-world developmental issues on the ground by working with government agencies, social sector organizations, applied research institutions, and policy-making bodies.

Join us if you are looking for a programme that will enable you to use economics to address questions and problems you see around you. We will train you in the latest data analysis and econometric techniques and you will get to understand the functioning of the economy on the ground through multiple opportunities for fieldwork.

If you are interested in using data for the public good, in working with multiple stakeholders to address development issues sensitively and collaboratively, in using economic models and tools in innovative and impactful ways, then our programme gives you the perspectives and the skills to accomplish this by embedding economics in the institutional, developmental, and ecological context of contemporary India and connecting you to it through courses and fieldwork.
