Biography
Anshika Mathur received her PhD in Economics from Shiv Nadar University. Her field of specialisation is applied microeconomics, which combines quantitative and spatial methods with an emphasis on causal inference. Her research lies at the intersection of health, gender, and labor economics, examining how social norms, state programmes, and institutional capacity shape human capital formation in developing countries. Her research has explored topics such as maternal and child health, social protection, women’s safety, digital inclusion, and labor market outcomes. Through her research, she seeks to generate policy-relevant evidence to inform the design and implementation of programmes that improve the welfare of marginalised communities.
Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed academic journals, including the Journal of Human Capital. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Global Labor Organization. Prior to joining Azim Premji University, she worked as an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP), New Delhi, and as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
Outside academia, she enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring new places.
