Faculty Positions in Social Science Education — School of Continuing Education and University Resource Centre

We invite applications for faculty positions in Social Science Education, preferably in the area of Geography. 

The School of Continuing Education and University Resource Centre (SCE-URC) provides a comprehensive in-service program focused on school education and development. The major thrust of the work in education is around pedagogy, assessments and material development. These in-service programs are offered to the public education system and civil society organizations throughout the country. Public institutions we work with are SCERTs, State Boards, DIETs and District Education departments across the states. Key stakeholders we work with are Teacher, Teacher Educators, Education functionaries, questions paper developers, Curriculum developers (including textbook writers). 

We are seeking Social Science education professionals who are deeply invested in developing perspectives, crafting engaging innovative pedagogy and assessments practices. This role requires both conceptual clarity in social science disciplines and the ability to translate disciplinary thinking into meaningful classroom practice and teacher professional development programmes. 

You should have:

  • A Master’s degree in social science (preferably Geography)
  • Well-versed in the current pedagogical and assessment practices in today’s educational space
  • The ability to develop and facilitate both long-term and short-term courses or workshops for teachers, teacher educators, and others involved in social science education. 
  • Design and implement capacity-building initiatives for teachers, teacher educators, and government officials in social science.
  • Develop a diverse range of resource materials, including curriculum, textbooks, reading and writing and assessment materials. 
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with various stakeholders in the field of education. 
  • While applicants may have a postgraduate degree in a specific discipline such as History, Geography, Political Science, or Economics, the position also requires a holistic and integrated understanding of Social Sciences as a comprehensive field of inquiry.

You should be willing to travel frequently across geographies, especially to the Northeastern states
