The much-loved annual cricket match between the members and the students lived up to the expectations, bringing excitement and laughter on the Azim Premji University, Bengaluru campus ground.

On 10 April 2026, the members’ team, Team Evergreen produced a commanding all-round display to register a memorable 73-run victory over the students’ side, the Turnitin Warriors.

Batting first, Team Evergreen piled up a formidable 2292 in 20 overs with some sparkling strokeplay. The standout performance came from skipper Kedar, who played a magnificent captain’s innings of 81*, anchoring the innings with authority and composure.

He was brilliantly supported by Amit, whose explosive unbeaten 51* came at a strike rate above 220, while Ajaykumars 37 provided a strong start. Earlier, Sharads 36, featuring two back-to-back sixes, injected early momentum and set the tone for the big total.

Turnitin Warriors’ bowling unit kept fighting throughout, with Akshay claiming an important wicket and Paban also striking for the Warriors. Despite facing a strong batting display, they stayed committed and continued to compete in the field.

In reply, the Turnitin Warriors showed plenty of heart and passion, battling till the very end in a lively atmosphere. Shubham’s 32 led the response, while Sharanamurthi’s late unbeaten cameo added excitement. However, Team Evergreen’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding proved decisive. The opening breakthroughs against their dominant top order shifted the momentum early.

This match holds a special value as the final-year students round up against their very own members — some of them with whom they have shared a class and the cricket field, to celebrate their immense contribution to the game and the sporting culture.

Special credit must go to Team Evergreen’s fielding effort — energetic, committed, and impressive throughout despite the age difference. Equally, the Turnitin Warriors deserve applause for their enthusiasm, spirit, and determination, making the contest a joy to watch.

Congratulations to both teams for keeping this wonderful tradition alive!
