Faculty positions in Language Education
We invite academicians and practitioners for faculty positions in Language Education.
As a faculty in Language Education, you will be teaching in the Master’s level programme in Education. The courses offered under this programme cover a wide range of aspects including language learning theories, engagement with literature in general as well as children’s literature in particular, language curriculum at various stages of schooling, policy imperatives and sociolinguistics.
Instruction will emphasise the nature of human language, the processes of language acquisition, and literacy instruction in the early grades. It will also focus on developing literacy skills across the curriculum, addressing multilingual contexts in India, teaching English in Indian schools, and exploring Indian literature and children’s literature.
Azim Premji University, Bhopal, started operations in August 2023, offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The first phase of campus construction is complete and the overall 50-acre campus with state-of-the-art academic and residential facilities will be ready over the next few years. We expect to grow to about 4000 students and 500 members over the next few years.
In addition to teaching in our programmes, we offer faculty an enriching and fulfilling institution building experience encompassing interdisciplinary programme design, setting up and implementation of key institutional processes, culture building, and participation in various institutional bodies. The University encourages and offers support to faculty members for pursuing their own research.
Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in Language Education within the MA Education programme.
- Contribute to the development of curricula in Language Education.
- Engage in research activities related to education and language.
- Mentor students in planning and implementing their practicums and fieldwork in the education domain.
- Gradually and systematically build expertise to teach foundational courses in educational perspectives, including Philosophy and Sociology of Education, Curriculum Studies, Education Policy, School Organization, and Research in Education.
- Participate actively and creatively in institutional responsibilities.
- An advanced degree in English, Linguistics, Literature, Education, Language Education or a related field.
- Practical experience in areas such as in-service teacher education, development of curricular materials for language education, language assessment, or other related domains will be considered an added advantage.
- Research publications in Language Education, Literature, or Linguistics are also desirable.
