Faculty Positions in Chemistry — School of Continuing Education and University Resource Centre

We invite applications for faculty positions in Science Education, preferably in the area of Chemistry.

The School of Continuing Education and University Resource Centre (SCE-URC) provides a comprehensive in-service program focused on school education and development. The major thrust of the work in education is around pedagogy, assessments and material development. These in-service programs are offered to the public education system and civil society organizations throughout the country. Public institutions we work with are SCERTs, State Boards, DIETs and District Education departments across the states. Key stakeholders we work with are Teacher, Teacher Educators, Education functionaries, questions paper developers, Curriculum developers (including textbook writers). 

We are seeking Science Education professionals who are deeply invested in developing perspectives and crafting engaging and innovative practices in pedagogy and assessment. This role requires both conceptual clarity in science as a discipline and its multidimensional role in understanding other disciplines, and the ability to translate disciplinary thinking into meaningful classroom practice and teacher professional development programmes.

You should have:

  • Masters degree in Science preferably in Chemistry. (Degree in Education is preferred)
  • Relevant experience as a teacher or teacher educator
  • Prior experience in training and capacity building of teachers and teacher trainers and curricular material development.
  • Experience of working with Functionaries and Government institutions would be an added advantage.
  • Creating and organising effective learning resources to align with objectives of science education and promoting innovative pedagogical approaches in science.
  • Creating comprehensive curricular materials like curriculum, syllabus, textbooks, handbooks, training modules, etc. as per the diverse needs of the stakeholders.
  • Creating assessment framework and tools for holistic assessment of learners and supporting academic institutions in large-scale assessment.
  • Design session plans and implementation strategies for high quality training workshops/​ short term courses to cater to the needs of participants.
  • Regular mentoring for content effectiveness and addressing gaps for improvement in teaching- learning practices through online and offline modes.
  • Contribute to other relevant programmes related to wider capacity development needs of stakeholders.

You should also be open to travel across geographies, specially to the North-eastern states
