An international workshop organised by ICAS:MP and Azim Premji University

International Workshop

Until a few decades ago, the informal sector had been cast as an aspect of economic backwardness, to be rectified’ by development. Historical trajectories, however, have flowed in the opposite direction. The informal sector continues to coexist alongside processes of growth and modernisation’.

The workshop organised by ICAS:MP and Azim Premji University brings together social scientists using economic and historical methods to look at contemporary manifestations of informality and its intersection with gender and politics.
