A celebration of the cultural milieu of Karnataka

A monthly programme series held at the Indian Institute of World Culture (IIWC), Bengaluru, since October 2024. We offer a diverse programme mix — literary and cultural — in the form of discussions, plays, bhaava geethegalu (a genre of Kannada poetry that focuses on a range of human emotions), book releases, ghazals blended with modern Kannada poetry, and more.

Through these programmes, we aim to celebrate the diverse contributions and achievements of our cultural icons, past and present, by connecting with the rich legacy of Karnataka’s literary and cultural heritage, while resonating with the contemporary developments in the field of art, music, literature, education and culture.

Some past events under Samskruti Sambhrama include Enactment of Marikadu, Portraits of Renowned Kannada Writers and Talk on Dalit Literary Movement.

Through this festival, we embark on a journey through the heart of Karnataka as we explore the vibrant tapestry of cultures and languages that define this diverse state. It is inspired by the mighty rivers that nurture Karnataka’s landscapes, communities, and experiences.

Just as the Krishna and Kaveri rivers traverse diverse geographies, our festival aims to bridge the myriad cultures and languages of Karnataka. These life-giving waters serve as a powerful metaphor for the state’s expansive terrain, rich diversity, and syncretic nature.

Inspired by the rejuvenating powers of these sacred rivers, our event curation focuses on revival and revitalisation. We aim to breathe new life into traditional art forms, customs, and practices, ensuring their relevance in contemporary times.

The Krishna to Kaveri event follows a co-curation approach, with both Bangalore International Centre and Azim Premji University jointly contributing to the design and execution.
