About the event  

Azim Premji University, in collaboration with the Rashtrakavi Dr G. S. Shivarudrappa Foundation, Bengaluru, and the Rashtrakavi Dr G. S. S. Trust, Bengaluru, is organising an event titled ​‘Remembering Dr G. S. Shivarudrappa’ as part of his birth centenary celebrations. The event will be held on Friday, 12 June 2026 at the Indian Institute of World Culture, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. It is being organised under the Samskruti Sambhrama series, which seeks to celebrate and engage with Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage.

The event will feature a photo exhibition on the life and legacy of Dr G. S. Shivarudrappa, personal reminiscences, reflections on his literary contributions, and a theatrical presentation inspired by his poetry. The photo exhibition will remain open to the public from 12 to 19 June 2026. Noted critic Dr K. Marulasiddappa will inaugurate the photo exhibition. Dr G. S. Jayadeva, Founder of Deenabandhu Trust, Chamarajanagar, will share personal reminiscences of GSS, while writer Prof. S. G. Siddaramaiah will speak on Dr. Shivarudrappa’s role in shaping Kannada language, literature, and cultural consciousness.

The event will conclude with ​“Vipula Roopa Dharini,” a poetic theatrical production based on the poems of Dr G. S. Shivarudrappa, presented by Hongirana, Shivamogga. The production has been designed and directed by Dr Shripada Bhat and Dr Sasvehalli Satish. Members of Dr G. S. Shivarudrappa’s family, including Mrs. G. S. Jayanti and Mr. K. M. Chaitanya, along with Mr. Mohan Kumar Kondajji, President of the G. S. S. Pratishthana, will be present on the occasion.
