Head of Student Residences
We invite application for the role of Head of Student Residences.
The Head of Student Residences is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operational management of the university’s student residential facilities (hostels). The role ensures that hostels operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the university’s values, policies, and regulatory requirements.
The Head of Student Residences oversees residential operations across all hostels, supervises Resident Mentors (RMs) and hostel staff, and ensures a supportive residential environment that promotes student wellbeing, discipline, and community living. The candidate would need to work closely with university administration, student services, facilities, and security teams.
Residential Operations & Administration
- Oversee the day-to-day functioning of all hostels.
- Supervise and guide Resident Mentor’s (RMs).
- Co-ordinate with hostel staff to ensure effective operations of all the facilities.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, hostel regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Manage room allocation, occupancy management, and maintenance of accurate hostel records.
- Coordinate with administrative teams on infrastructure maintenance, housekeeping, utilities, and facility management.
- Ensure high operational standards across all residential facilities.
Student Welfare & Residential Life
- Foster a positive and inclusive residential environment that supports student wellbeing and community living.
- Address student grievances, interpersonal conflicts, and disciplinary matters in a timely and fair manner by following the university guidelines.
- Promote respectful and responsible community behaviour within student residences.
- Ensure implementation of all regulatory policies such as anti-ragging policy, Anti-discrimination policy, PoSH and others in accordance with the prescribed laws.
Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure appropriate safety and security measures across all residential facilities.
- Work closely with campus security teams to maintain a secure residential environment.
- Oversee emergency preparedness and response protocols, including medical emergencies, fire safety, and crisis management.
- Conduct periodic safety audits and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree from a recognised institute.
- Minimum 12 – 15 years of relevant experience in academic administration, student affairs, residential life, or hostel management.
- Substantial experience managing student welfare, discipline, and residential environments.
- Experience supervising teams and managing operational processes in institutional settings.
- Experience and exposure of working in residential university campuses with diverse student population.
