Academic Associate — Social Science (Quantative Support)

We invite applications for the role of Academic Associate for Social Science for our Undergraduate Programme. 

This role will contribute to the Social Science courses in the undergraduate programme. This is a 2‑year full-time position.

Responsibilities: 

As an Academic Associate, you will,

  • Work with faculty on 2 – 4 courses per semester, with substantial mathematical, statistical, and programming content 
  • Conduct lab sessions for various courses, help students get familiar working with data and using a programming language. 
  • Conduct tutorials for students who need help with individualised support or review sessions for specific courses. 
  • Prepare accessible teaching or lab material, assist in lab practicals, conduct diagnostic tests, and provide extra support to student projects outside of class hours.
  • Mentor undergraduate students and provide data and coding related guidance on their projects and other activities.

You will be able to engage in independent or collaborative research projects under the guidance of faculty members. You will be assigned a faculty mentor who will provide mentorship, feedback, and support in pursuing independent research projects.

  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Human Geography, Anthropology, or related field. 
  • Proficiency and comfort in working with data in R. 
  • An interest in mentoring and engaging with a socially and academically diverse cohort of students.
  • Interest in developing accessible teaching and learning materials
