Academic Associate — Information Science and Mathematics
We invite applications for the position of Academic Associate – Information Science and Mathematics.
This role is suited for candidates who are interested in working or pursuing higher studies in the future. This is a one-year full-time position, with the possibility of extension for a second year on assessment.
Responsibilities:
As an Academic Associate, you will be:
- Conducting tutorials for two undergraduate courses each semester, across the bachelor’s programmes in Information Science and Mathematics.
- Helping prepare course materials, and providing additional support to students outside class. Courses where you may assist include introductory courses in programming, discrete mathematics, and algorithms.
- Strengthening the undergraduate programmes in these disciplines through mentoring students, observing classes and providing feedback on pedagogy and course structure, organising and attending seminars, and continuing your own reading.
- Helping in setting up the computing lab. You will also support student learning outside the course work. This may take the form of problem-solving sessions, a lecture series, helping students plan club activities, or providing inputs into student projects.
- Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics or statistics
- Experience with programming and algorithms is necessary
