Restoration and rewilding are taking centre stage across the world as means to restore ecosystems to a pre-disturbance state and mitigate climate impacts. In India too there are many initiatives to restore landscapes. This course will introduce students to restoration ecology, rewilding, conservation breeding, human-wildlife conflicts, ethics of restoration, reintroductions, ethics of restoration and conservation breeding. The course will discuss how climate change mitigation strategies can impact biodiversity and ecosystems.
