Research methods for biodiversity assessments and conservation

A field course conducted in summer

This course will introduce students to the basics of methods used in ecology, conservation and wildlife biology. All students, along with an instructor (and an AA) will be based in an appropriate field site for the duration of this course. The course will cover the basics of study design, sampling techniques in ecology, introduction to QGIS and spatial analysis, studying natural history, designing questionnaire surveys, and conducting FRA (forest rights act) mapping, and documentation of biocultural knowledge, PBR methods etc.
