Introduction to Psychology

Introduction to Psychology is offered as the first core course of the Psychology Programme. It will serve as the foundational course to help prepare students for advanced topics in Psychology and Cognitive Science. The course focuses on the broad themes of behaviour and empiricism. The course is designed to build a solid foundation in various concepts of psychological science that are important for understanding human behavior. The framework begins with the basics of psychological theories and methods, concepts in Western and Indian Psychology, and then progresses through biological bases of behavior, and extends into complex areas such as cognition, personality, and psychopathology. This sequential approach ensures that students develop a comprehensive understanding, starting from fundamental concepts and gradually moving to more complex topics.
