Biography

Indrajeet Kumar is a Development Economist with experience in teaching, research, and policy analysis. He served as a Junior Consultant working on public health projects at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, and taught as Guest Faculty at NCWEB, Hansraj College, University of Delhi.

He holds a PhD in Economics and an MPhil in Applied Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His doctoral thesis was on Cash versus In-kind Transfers: The Indian Experience.” During his PhD, Kumar was a Visiting Scholar at (i) the Department of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, London, UK, and (ii) the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai. Skilled in managing large datasets, Kumar has led field surveys across Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. His academic excellence has been recognised through awards, including (i) the Gold Medal for MA in Economics at Central University of South Bihar, Gaya, and (ii) the UGC NET-JRF Fellowship in Economics. He enjoys cooking, playing badminton, and chess.

His current work focuses on analysing the preference and impact of cash versus in-kind transfers on outcomes related to consumption, employment, health, and education.
