Associate — Disability Support

We invite applications for the role of Associate ‑Disability Support.

As an Associate for Disability Support, you will be assisting in the coordination and implementation of services for students with disabilities, ensuring that the University’s academic programmes and resources are accessible to all. This role involves working closely with students, faculty, and other functions in the University to provide the necessary support for an inclusive learning experience.

Responsibilities:

As an Associate — Disability support, you will:

  1. Support Students:
  • Assist students with disabilities in accessing academic resources and services.
  • Assist students with academic and structural accommodation requests.
  1. Support Faculty and other functions:
  • Collaborate with faculty members to ensure course materials and instructional methods are accessible.
  • Participate in workshops on inclusive teaching strategies and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
  • Support other functions in implementing and maintaining accessible physical and digital environments.
  1. Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain records of academic and structural accommodation provided.
  • Help organise workshops, seminars, and events on disability awareness and inclusion.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Coordinate with students, faculty, and other functions in the University. 
  • Communicate with students to understand their academic needs and challenges.
  • Engage with external experts and professionals in the field of disability support for knowledge sharing and improvement of services.
  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Disability Studies, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred. UG degree with experience/​expertise will also be considered.
  • Prior experience of working with students with disabilities in an academic setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with disability-related laws and inclusive education practices.
  • Proficiency in assistive technologies and accessibility software/​tools is an added advantage.
  • Strong empathy and a student-centered approach to providing support.
  • Good communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable academic environment.
