About the Lecture: Speaking from the Red Fort on August 15, 2022, Prime Minister Modi challenged India to become a developed society by 2047, the 100th year of Indian independence. PM Modi also referred to the intervening 25 years as India’s Amrit Kaal. In this talk, Suman Bery, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, will address the challenges of such long-term analysis and what are the fundamental challenges that are needed for India to succeed.

About the Speaker: Dr. Suman Bery is a prominent Indian economist and policy expert, currently the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog. His extensive career includes leading roles such as Director-General of NCAER and significant contributions to global economic studies at the World Bank and IMF. A graduate of Princeton and Oxford, Dr. Bery is well-regarded for his expertise in economics and public policy. He is a frequent commentator and has authored numerous influential papers, playing a key role in shaping India’s economic landscape and policy discussions.
