Statistical Foundations for Psychology (with R), the third course in the psychology major track, will introduce students to the relevant statistical considerations involved in analyzing and interpreting data in psychology. Statistical analysis will enable students to identify patterns in data, interpret the findings, and summarize the results in a psychological context. As a result, these concepts are incorporated in a unified framework within the psychology programme. The course aims to equip students to handle quantitative data, covering topics such as graphical representation of data, data distribution, and hypothesis testing (using both parametric and non-parametric methods). All these concepts will be implemented using the R programming language. Additionally, some fundamental approaches to sampling and data collection (experimental design) will be introduced to facilitate further analysis.
