Developmental Psychology is offered in the third semester of major track. It will also be offered as the third course of minor track. The course explores the unfolding of biological, cognitive, emotional and social processes from conception to old age. Synthesising the foundational knowledge from Introduction to Psychology and Brain and Behaviour, the course gives a broad overview of how core psychological processes are developed and influenced by the environment. The course provides foundational learning to development and develops critical thinking skills to examine how one’s experiences, environment and biology interact to influence overall growth, behaviour and development. It serves to connect the theoretical framework with observable developmental processes, strengthening the analytical understanding and illustrating principles in the real world.
