About the course

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) face many financial and compliance challenges. Finance staff often work with limited resources and knowledge, which may expose CSOs to financial, legal, and funding risks.

This 5‑day course is designed to strengthen the capacity of finance professionals in small CSOs (annual spend under INR 5 crore). It will focus on developing perspectives on the role of finance in strengthening CSOs, and practices through hands-on skills, tools, and strategies. The course will support CSOs to build strong financial systems, provide insights into management of institutional grants and ensure compliance, accountability, and sustainability for small CSOs.

The course will be relevant to:

  • People managing or overseeing finance in small CSOs
  • Treasurers or board members handling financial responsibilities
  • Participants preferably from organisations that have institutional grants or are proposing to obtain institutional grants

Note: Knowledge of basic accounting, financial statements, and compliances is a prerequisite.
