Navneet competed his Master’s, M Phil and PhD form Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in Hindi language and literature.  His research thesis (2004) was on famous Hindi Poet, Playwriter, Novelist and Short story writer Jai Shankar prasad. His thesis explores linkages with Nationalist though in his writings. Few chapters of the thesis are published in different journals and magazines. 

He has extensive experience in school education and has worked with several organizations before joining Azim Premji Foundation in 2011. It includes teaching at The Doon School, Dehradun, Digantar and Bharti foundation. 

During his work with public educations system with different organisations, he was part of key engagements at state levels like textbook writing and curriculum development in states of Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand. He also worked as Principal in one of the Azim Premji Schools in Uttarakhand. He has been part of editorial teams of Shiksha Vimarsh, Pravah and Pathshala Bheetar aur Bahar.  He was also instrumental in developing state level workshop modules, assessments and other documents relevant for practicing teachers. He also led the capacity enhancement engine within the Foundation for language resource persons. 

Navneet also had a stint with CIET, NCERT as research fellow, where he was instrumental in developing scripts for educational programmes for Gyan Darshan (a dedicated channel of Doordarshan for school education). 

He has been involved in book reviews published in magazines like Outlook, India Today and Pursak Varrta. Some of the noted books are Kabristaan men Panchayat by Kedar Nath singh, Jammu Jo Kabhee Shahar Tha by Padma Sachdev, Zille Subhani by Nand Kishor Acharya and Loktantrik School by M W Apple.
