Biography

Deepika holds an MSc in Life Science Informatics from the University of Bonn and a BSc (Honours) in Biology from Azim Premji University, where she also completed a minor in Applied Mathematics. For her master’s thesis, she worked with Dr Lei Gu (Max-Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research, Bad Nauheim) on developing a computational pipeline to identify candidate target genes for coronary artery disease by integrating multiple types of biological data. In her undergraduate honour’s thesis project with Dr Sriram (Faculty, Azim Premji University), she explored how stochastic processes can influence patterns of gene expression in the bacterium E. coli.

She enjoys building and using tools that bring together real-world and computational approaches to problems. At the University, she supports the Information Sciences courses and works closely with students to strengthen their understanding and engagement with the material.
