The Centre for Sustainable Employment (CSE) at Azim Premji University, aims to generate and support research in the areas of job creation, employment, and sustainable livelihoods. CSE has been set up to foster fresh and creative thinking on issues around the labour market. The Research Associate will work with post-doctoral research fellows and faculty on ongoing projects on various aspects of the Indian economy with a focus on the labour market; in particular issues such as quality of work, job creation, structural change, pro-employment policies, skilling etc. A large part of the work will involve working with large scale databases. There will also be some primary data collection work.
Qualifications:
Master’s in Economics (You may consider applying if you are currently in your final year with an expected completion by April).
Knowledge of statistical software such as STATA or R is required. Familiarity with a programming language such as Python is a plus.
Experience working with economic datasets such as the PLFS, NSS databases, IHDS etc.
Familiarity with the principal problems and the structure of the Indian economy particularly with respect to its labour market is desired
