Field Investigator for Psychology Project

We invite applications for the role of Field Investigator.

The objective of the role is to assist with research documentation and carrying out data collection for the research project titled, ​‘Barriers to Inclusive Education in India: Towards Transformative Solutions’.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with school administrators, teachers, students, and parents to collect primary data
  • Assist with surveys, structured interviews, and classroom observations in selected special and inclusive schools
  • Manage local logistics, including scheduling interviews, coordinating visits, and ensuring timely data collection
  • Ensure ethical protocols, informed consent, and confidentiality in data handling
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of collected data and field notes
  • Report fieldwork progress regularly to the research team and highlight any challenges encountered

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s/Diploma in Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field, OR
  • Experience in field research, particularly in conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups
  • Familiarity with inclusive education, disability studies, or working with children with special needs is preferred
  • Proficiency in Kannada to assist in interviews and data collection at special schools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders, including school staff, parents, and students
  • Experience in managing logistics for field data collection, including scheduling interviews, coordinating visits, and ensuring data accuracy
  • Ability to travel extensively across urban and rural Karnataka for data collection
  • Ethical sensitivity in handling sensitive participant information, ensuring informed consent and confidentiality
  • Basic understanding of research documentation and record-keeping
