Faculty Positions in English
We invite applications for faculty positions in English.
The BA in English programme at the University teaches literature with a focus on building critical and aesthetic sensibilities in reading different kinds of texts – traditional and newer forms – and capacities in writing. Our teaching practices and curriculum are informed by the needs of a diverse student body and the challenges posed by the context of learning English in India.
Alongside, a core English programme that seeks to build knowledge in literatures produced in English, our programme also offers courses in allied areas like Cultural Studies and Creative Writing. The English faculty at the University are also closely involved in developing courses and teaching methods aimed at fostering communication skills for students from all disciplines, through foundational English language courses.
We seek applications from candidates who can:
- Teach a range of courses in the BA in English programme core, like, Literary Forms, Literary Contexts, Approaches to Literature
- Design core and elective courses in the English core, as required
- Design and teach courses on Creative and Academic Writing
- An advanced degree in English, Cultural Studies, or related areas
- A strong commitment to teaching, reading, and writing in a diverse classroom
- An active research agenda and a willingness to contribute to an undergraduate English curriculum grounded in the Indian context
