Academic Associate – Biology

We invite applications for the role of Academic Associate — Biology for the Undergraduate Programme.

As an Academic Associate (AA) in Biology, you will provide academic support to students and also contribute to developing courses and running labs. 

This position will provide opportunity to explore innovative pedagogical practices, engage with a socio-economically diverse student cohort. This is suitable for those interested in working as well as those keen to pursue higher studies in the future. It also includes helping students with specific course requirements, queries regarding specific lab/​field course requirements and procedures. Candidates should be motivated and interested in teaching learning processes, enthusiastic about working with students, and demonstrate initiatives. 

This is a full time one-year position, with a possibility of contract renewal for a second year upon evaluation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting faculty members in preparing and running labs for different courses
  • Creating and maintaining a week-wise calendar of activities concerning the biology teaching lab
  • Studying and maintaining lab handouts – conducting trials of experiments for teaching demo
  • Assisting and mentoring students during the labs and research projects
  • Assisting faculty in maintaining the model organisms required for the labs and keeping track of lab consumables and coordinating to facilitate new purchases and restocking
  • Participate in designing the lab activities
  • MSc degree in Biological Sciences or any related discipline
  • An interest in engaging with a socially and academically diverse cohort of student
