About the event
Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, in collaboration with Kuvempu Kannada Adhyayana Samsthe, University of Mysore, will host the seventh edition of Sahitya Sahavasa, a literary event exploring modern Kannada literary sensibilities. The event will be held on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM at the B.M. Sri Auditorium, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, University of Mysore.
The day-long event will celebrate the literary contributions of eminent Kannada writers Triveni, K.S. Narasimhaswamy and Devanuru Mahadeva. It will be inaugurated by Dr Padma Shekhar, former Vice-Chancellor of Sanskrit University. The inaugural session will include renditions of K.S. Narasimhaswamy’s songs, a keynote address by noted literary critic Dr M.S. Ashadevi, and will be presided over by Prof. Lolakshi of the Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, University of Mysore.
Seminars on the works of the three writers will be held through the day, featuring speakers such as Dr. H. Geetha, Sri M.S. Prakash, and Prof. B.M. Puttaiah. Basavaraj Devanuru, brother of Devanuru Mahadeva, will share memories of his childhood companionship with Devanuru Mahadeva. Family members of the writers Triveni and K.S.Narasimhaswamy, including Meera Shankar and Dr Mekhala Venkatesh, will share insights into ongoing efforts to preserve and carry forward these literary legacies.
The event will also feature bhavageete performances, a play titled “Sambanja Annodu Doddu Kana” based on Devanuru Mahadeva’s stories, performed by Janamana Samskruthika Sangatane, Mysuru, a photo exhibition on the writers, and a prize distribution ceremony for winners of literary competitions.
The event is supported by Triveni Shankar Sahitya Pratishthana, K.S. Narasimhaswamy Trust and Abhiruchi Prakashana, Mysore.
