Textbook Talk Series: Navigating the New Vocational Education Textbooks
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasises that “every child learns at least one vocation and is exposed to several more” and that the “development of vocational capacities will go hand-in-hand with the development of ‘academic’ or other capacities”. The National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023 actualises this policy action by including Vocational Education as a curricular area critical to meeting the aims of education. Further, NCERT is in the process of development and dissemination of textbooks, Kaushal Bodh for grades 6 to 8 and Kaushal Vikas for grades 9 and 10, to enable implementation in schools.
The second episode of the Textbook Talk series will feature a discussion on the Vocational Education textbooks. It will focus on the rationale and design of the textbooks, and how they should be implemented.
