About the programme

Azim Premji University is hosting the release of two books on school education — Shikshana Sangata by Dr H B Chandrashekhar and Jogulada Harake by Prof. H N Muralidhar — on 21 Feb 2026, at the Wadia Auditorium, Indian Institute of World Culture, Basavanagudi.

The books will be released by Prof. G S Jayadev, Founder, Deenabandhu Trust, Chamarajanagar. Sri Sudheesh Venkatesh will be present along with the authors.  Sri S V Manjunath will introduce Shikshana Sangata while Sri K Satyanarayana, senior writer from Bengaluru, will introduce Jogulada Harake.

About the books

Shikshana Sangata (by Dr H B Chandrashekhar)

The book examines the responsibilities of schools beyond academics, including values, equity, and child-centric practices. Drawing from lived experiences, reports and research, it analyses problems and discusses expert perspectives. It calls for reflective teaching and humane education, while emphasising the importance of encouraging children’s questions, and adopting child-friendly practices, and suggests that officials act as part of the system rather than standing above it. 

Jogulada Harake (by Prof. H N Muralidhar)

This collection views education as a process of inner human development. The essays systematically examine key concepts, language, and the relationship between the individual and society. The book urges a reorientation of education toward deeper human and cultural growth.

The programme is part of the Samskruti Sambhrama series, celebrating Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage.
