Introduction to Chemical Thinking — II

Delving further into chemical thinking.

This is the second in a series of two courses on chemical thinking focuses on the application of submicroscopic models of matter and structure-property relationships to explain, predict, and control chemical behaviour. Students are introduced to concepts regarding chemical thermodynamics, acid-base equilibria and chemical kinetics from the perspective of the transformation of matter and the underlying principles that govern the reactivity of chemical substances. In the second half of this course, core ideas and ways of thinking are integrated and applied to the production of energy (electrochemistry) and materials (chemical synthesis).
