Introduction to organisms and ecosystems will build on the foundations laid by the first course. This course will focus on organismic, population and ecosystem level understanding of biology and will allow students to appreciate biodiversity both locally (in their immediate surroundings) and at larger scales (country, planet). The highlight of the course will be a semester-long, field-based activity involving systematic observation of various habitats around campus and cataloguing of the organisms present in them. This activity promotes team work and also builds individual capacities for observation and journaling.
