Application and Selection Process
Explore the three steps that you need to follow for enrolling as a student at the University.
There are three steps in the application and selection process:
- Step 1 (Online Application)
- Step 2 (National Entrance Test OR performance based on external tests; see details below)
- Step 3 (Interview)
Let us walk you through the steps one by one.
Step 1
Fill out the online application form. It collects basic personal information and educational background. Submit the form and make the application fee payment of INR 500.
Step 2
There are two options for candidates applying for undergraduate programmes.
The first option is taking the National Entrance Test conducted by Azim Premji University.
The second option is furnishing your scores in external tests. The university accepts scores obtained in CUET-UG, JEE, SAT, IISER, NEET, NEST, KCET. The window for uploading external scores will open around May/June 2026. More details are given below.

National Entrance Test: Must-knows
Duration: 3 hours
Note : There is no negative marking
Components:
a) Reading Comprehension (20 MCQs) — common for all majors;
b) Quantitative Reasoning (20 MCQs) — common for all majors, and
c) Domain-specific Questions (10 MCQs)
Domains:
a) Humanities – English, History, Media and Communications;
b) Social Science – Economics, Psychology, Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), Social Science;
c) Science – Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Sustainability, Information Sciences, Mathematics, Physics

If you have applied for an undergraduate programme in Bhopal as a first preference, you can get a bilingual (English and Hindi) question paper.
NOTE: The bilingual question paper is not available for BA in English applicants
The university accepts scores of external tests for the following:
All UG programmes except ITEP: CUET (UG) OR SAT
All BSc programmes: JEE Main, IISER, NEET, NEST, KCET
Click here to view the CUET (UG) tests to apply for specific programmes. Ensure you have taken the relevant tests applicable to the programme you are applying for.
For all external tests, cut-off scores will be decided by the Admissions Committee and only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
If you are applying through the SAT, mention our Designated Institution (DI) Code: 7588 in your SAT application form. This will ensure that your official SAT scores are sent directly to us.
Step 3
Depending on this year’s admissions criteria, you may be asked to appear for a personal online interview.
Admissions
Admissions to the ITEP programme will be through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across India as a Computer Based Test (CBT). You need to register for this separately on the National Testing Agency website when the announcements are made.

Once the results are announced, you can apply with your score card at our university. The score card has to be from the current year, i.e., 2026.
Eligibility
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- List of qualifying exams:
- Final exam from the 10+2 system conducted by any recognised central or state board.
- Intermediate or two-year pre-university exam conducted by a recognised board or university.
- Senior Secondary School Exam conducted by NIOS with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any final exam in India or in a foreign country that is recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination. - Those who have completed the Grade 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Grade 12 examination.
The university offers academic support to applicants on the basis of their performance in the entrance test and interviews. This support course, offered prior to the first semester of the programme, is mandatory. Students shortlisted for this course will not be admitted unless they complete it.
