Biography

Samia Ahmed is a writer and scholar specialising in feminist literature, post-colonial fiction, and contemporary fiction. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia and is currently ABD (All but Dissertation) in her PhD programme in English and Creative Writing at State University of New York, Binghamton.

Ahmed’s scholarly interests focus on feminist literature, eco-criticism, and the representation of Muslim women in contemporary fiction. Her dissertation examines the intersections of creative writing and environmental justice through the lens of the Bhopal gas tragedy. 

Before joining the University, Ahmed taught a range of courses including Fundamentals of Creative Writing, British Literature, and self-designed literature courses like The Poetics of Taylor Swift’, Feminist Fantasy’, and Surviving the End of the World’.

Samia is currently working on her debut novel along with several creative projects. She also writes and publishes poetry and non-fiction.
