Biography
Remya S N is a faculty with the School of Climate change and Sustainability at Azim Premji University. She is a cryosphere scientist with demonstrated research and field leadership excellence in remote sensing of Himalayan Glaciology. Her research focuses on using a combination of satellite data and field observations for monitoring and forecasting of glacial dynamics and mountain cryosphere hazards.
She has more than eight years of field experience conducting campaigns across high-altitude glacial sectors in the Indian Himalaya, High Mountain Asia and Svalbard in the High Arctic.
Previously, she was an Assistant Professor with the School of Sustainable Futures at Amrita University, Amritapuri Campus. Dr. Remya also worked as a Scientist at Divecha Centre for Climate Change within the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
She holds a PhD in Applied Geology from Indian School of Mines — Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (ISM-IIT). She has published 10+ high-impact publications in Himalayan glaciology and supervised many graduate students at master’s and PhD levels.
