Puneet Bhasin is a political economist interested in how macro dynamics shape the global economy and (geo-)politics. He draws on heterodox frameworks to analyse national growth models and their complex interactions via financial flows and trade. Puneet currently researches various facets of the Indian macroeconomy at the Centre for the Study of the Indian Economy (CSIE) at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, India. 

Previously, he was a senior economist at The Hartford Insurance Group in New York, responsible for monitoring, analysing, and forecasting key trends in the US economy. Prior to that, he held postdoctoral positions at New York University, the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies, and Harvard University. Puneet earned his PhD in political science from Brown University, specialising in international political economy with a doctoral research focus on the post-1970s financialisation of the American, British, and German economies.
