Biography
Prabhat Kumar Jha is Faculty, Rural Livelihoods, at the School of Continuing Education, Azim Premji University, Ranchi. An Agricultural Engineer by training, he has nearly twenty years of experience working with rural communities, civil society organisations, government programmes, and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Before joining the University, he worked with Reliance Foundation, PRADAN, and Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society, contributing to large-scale efforts in sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, natural resource management, irrigation, watershed development, and farmer producer organisations.
His practice has focused on strengthening rural economies through agriculture-based livelihoods, water resource development, community institutions, capacity building, and partnerships across diverse stakeholders. At Azim Premji University, he designs and facilitates professional learning programmes for practitioners and development organisations, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, decentralised irrigation, water security, climate adaptation, and inclusive rural development.
