Biography

Malavika received her PhD in Economics from the University of Kent in 2024. Her doctoral research focused on transportation costs and the spatial distribution of economic activity in India. During her PhD, she served as a part-time Assistant Lecturer, teaching undergraduate courses in Macroeconomics. She was a recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Research Scholarship and the School of Economics Doctoral Scholarship.

Malavika’s research interests span economic geography, regional and development economics, and applied microeconomics. Her doctoral thesis, Essays on Transportation Costs and the Distribution of Economic Activity in India, investigates how infrastructure development affects the spatial patterns of economic agglomeration.

She enjoys reading books, listening to music, trekking, and playing badminton.
