Biography

Kavitendra Indu works in the areas of Hindi literature, cultural studies, and translation. He completed his PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, where his doctoral research examined the debates, tensions, and possibilities within Marxist literary criticism in Hindi. His work engages closely with questions of class, caste, and gender, and with their intersections in literary and cultural discourse.

He worked as an Assistant Professor at Bharati College, University of Delhi, for over eleven years, combining classroom teaching with sustained academic writing and institutional engagement. During this period, he published widely in leading Hindi journals such as Aalochana, Samayantar, and Kathadesh, and contributed to broader discussions in literary criticism and cultural analysis. His teaching and mentoring were guided by a commitment to critical inquiry and intellectual independence.

In recent years, his work has focused on scholarly translation and editorial engagement with academic texts, particularly through the Translation Initiative at Azim Premji University. He has also been invited to speak at various literary and cultural forums, including Sahitya Aaj Tak 2024. Outside academic work, he enjoys photography, long walks, and birdwatching.
