Biography

Jitesh Shelke works at the intersection of education, citizenship, and social impact, with over nine years of experience in the development sector. His professional journey began in science communication, where he worked on biodiversity awareness, followed by engagements in wildlife conservation focusing on vultures and marine turtles. These early experiences shaped his interest in connecting learning with real-world contexts.

He later transitioned into the education sector, contributing to programmes aimed at strengthening foundational learning, particularly reading and comprehension among primary-grade students. Over time, his work expanded to system-level interventions, including district transformation efforts that focused on building the capacities of Block Resource Coordinators (BRCs) and Cluster Academic Coordinators (CACs). His work involved supporting instructional leadership, enabling classroom observation practices, and promoting data-informed decision-making within government systems.

In recent years, Jitesh has led large-scale initiatives on citizenship education, working with secondary school students to develop their understanding of democratic processes, media literacy, and their role as active participants in society. His work spans programme design, team leadership, and implementation across multiple districts in Madhya Pradesh.

His interests lie in designing simple, meaningful learning experiences that make complex social and civic ideas accessible to children and adolescents.
