Gurjeet Singh is a faculty member at the School of Continuing Education — University Resource Centre (SCE-URC), Azim Premji University.

He holds a master’s degree in history from Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and a Postgraduate Diploma in District Health Management from IGNOU.

After completing his Merchant Navy training at TS Rajendra (1982 – 83 batch), he served with the Shipping Corporation of India. He later became actively involved in the Total Literacy Campaign through the People’s Science Movement. As a member of the State Team at the ASHA Resource Centre, Jharkhand, he contributed to designing training modules and learning activities for ASHA (Sahiya) workers.

Gurjeet has served as a National Resource Person for Social Audits with the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), Hyderabad, and as a Consultant with the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. He has also served as the State Coordinator for Social Audits in Jharkhand and as Mission Manager at the National Resource Cell for Social Audits under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

Fluent in multiple languages, he has delivered lectures on social accountability in countries including South Africa, Cambodia, and Kenya.

In addition to his field and policy engagements, he has contributed as a guest faculty member at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai and Tuljapur campuses), the Delhi School of Social Sciences, the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Ranchi, and the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Ranchi.
