Biography

Bhargav B S is a Research Fellow (Welfare) at the Centre for the Study of the Indian Economy, Azim Premji University, where he studies welfare, inequality, and political economy in India using quantitative and qualitative methods. His current work includes a co-authored paper on cross-state COVID-19 excess mortality, which is under peer review; a working paper examining trends in adult height using Demographic and Health Survey data; and editorial and analytical contributions to seven chapters of Realising Rights: A Handbook of Welfare in India, including a co-authored chapter on the Mid-Day Meal Programme.

Previously, as a Research Assistant with the Public Systems Group at IIM Ahmedabad, he researched education policy, with a particular focus on Section 12(1)( c) of the Right to Education Act, as well as cooperative institutions in the urban informal sector. He holds a master’s degree in English from EFLU, Hyderabad, and a bachelor’s degree in Communicative English, Political Science, and Economics from St Joseph’s College, Bangalore.
