Bedabrata Gogoi works on curriculum and textbook development, teacher professional development, and assessment design, with a particular focus on the school systems of Northeast India. He collaborates closely with SCERTs, DIETs, and State education boards such as ASSEB, MBOSE and MBSE across Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Sikkim, as well as with partners in other Indian states, on capacity building for teachers and the design of learning materials.

Before joining the University, Bedabrata worked as a researcher at the Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati, where he studied land relations in Assam from the early medieval period to recent times.

He holds an MPhil in Ancient India from the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His dissertation, Early Medieval Kamarupa: A Socio-Economic Profile (c. AD 500‑1300), examined the socio-economic relations of Kamarupa through inscriptions and placed the region within the trade networks of the Bay of Bengal.
