Biography

Ashutosh is a part of the MA in Education Programme.

He has formal training in the discipline of Philosophy, which has simultaneously allowed him to harness diverse interests, including (though not limited to) Educational Theories and Philosophy of Education. Seeing Education as a social reality which is simultaneously available for Philosophical scrutiny, Ashutosh believes that Education is an extremely crucial mode of understanding and effectively improving the relation between an individual and society.

Ashutosh graduated with a BSc from Bundelkhand University (Jhansi) and MA in Philosophy from University of Delhi (Delhi). He continued to be associated with Delhi University’s Philosophy Department as an MPhil and PhD Scholar too. His MPhil Dissertation delineates the presuppositional underpinnings of Bratṛhari’s Philosophy of Grammar; whereas his PhD discusses the foundational structure of Classical Indian Philosophical Thought. In trying to re-discover the concept of philosophy in India he also addresses the significance of the phrase Indian Philosophy” evaluating its adequacy and appropriateness.

He is currently dividing his time between two ongoing collaborative projects. The first one titled Swarāja and Higher Education” attempts at charting the possibility of actuating Swarāja in the University System of Education. With this aim the project takes into account critical insights stemming from several contemporary Indian philosophical discourses. The second project revolves around varied conceptualisations of the idea of Upamāna (a means of valid knowledge) and the formative role played by it in Āyurveda

Previously, Ashutosh was working with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Delhi, as a Philosophy Consultant, where his engagements included coordinating and contributing towards course structuring, course content writing and translation; delivering lectures and conducting counselling sessions for learners across the Doctoral (Interdisciplinary Studies), Master and Bachelor Programmes in Philosophy run by IGNOU.

He has served as a member of syllabus committees for IGNOU’s BA Philosophy (under FYUP), MA in Human Values and Ethics, and MA in Philosophy (Syllabus Revision) Programmes. Ashutosh has also taught The Classical Indian Philosophy Course to the students of MA in Philosophy at NCWEB, University of Delhi.
