Biography
Arunprasath has been a librarian with over three years of professional experience working in academic libraries.
He focussed on improving information access, user engagement, and research support. His academic background in English Literature and Journalism has helped in knowledge dissemination and user-centred library services.
Arunprasath holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Madras and a Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication from Bharathiar University.
In his previous stint as a Librarian at Mar Gregorios College of Arts & Science in Chennai he introduced several initiatives to modernise and enhance library services. A key achievement was the successful integration of RFID technology with Koha, the open-source Library Management System, which streamlined circulation and inventory management. He also designed and implemented a Smart Alert Service that provided faculty members with personalised updates on journal Table of Contents (ToCs), ensuring they remained up to date with the latest research in their fields.
His work has also focussed on promoting Open Educational Resources (OER), academic integrity, and digital literacy. He conducted training sessions and workshops for students and faculty on topics including literature search strategies, citation practices, and avoiding plagiarism.
Outside of work, Arunprasath enjoys exploring regional literature and traditional storytelling forms.
In recognition of his professional contributions, Arunprasath has received the Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan Award – Best Young Librarian in 2023.
