Anupama has a PhD, an MPhil, and a Master’s degree in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, New Delhi. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology from St. Xavier’s College, University of Mumbai, Mumbai.

Till recently, she worked with St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, as an Assistant Professor. She has earlier worked with Comet Media Foundation, Mumbai, and OneWorld South Asia, New Delhi, and held various positions in the editorial departments of Orient Longman Private Limited, Oxford University Press, and Penguin Books India in New Delhi.

Anupama’s research interests include environment and conservation, migration, development, and the history of anthropology.

She enjoys travelling, trekking, reading, listening to music, watching films, and sometimes, cooking.
