Aditi Dekate

Biography

Aditi holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal and a B.Sc. in Microbiology from Career College, Bhopal. During her master’s, she worked in the Nucleoporin and SUMO Biology group, where her master’s research project focused on SUMOylation and DNA-binding activity of the Drosophila nucleoporin Elys. She subsequently worked as a Young Professional-II at ICAR-NIHSAD, where she was involved in the molecular diagnosis of Lumpy Skin Disease Virus using real-time PCR, as well as sample inventory and reporting.

Her broader training includes molecular biology, microbiology, protein biochemistry, microscopy, cell culture and basic bioinformatics. At the University, she supports undergraduate biology laboratory teaching, an experience she particularly enjoys as it allows her to help students connect theoretical concepts with hands-on experimentation and develop confidence in the laboratory.

Outside academics, she enjoys playing badminton, experimenting with watercolour painting, reading widely, particularly non-fiction and speculative fiction, and travelling, especially when it offers an opportunity to explore new places, cultures and perspectives.
