The Quant Society at Azim Premji University, Bhopal, is a student-led, mentor-guided club that focuses on learning data tools and exploring how data can help us understand the world around us. It aims to make data more accessible and less intimidating, while helping students recognise its relevance across disciplines. Through hands-on sessions, workshops, guest lectures, presentations, and field visits, the club builds practical skills and familiarity with contemporary data tools.

The club began in 2025 and organised nine sessions during its first year on topics including data visualisation in R, LaTeX and R Markdown, and introductory Python. A field visit to Kaliyasot Dam provided an opportunity to collect spatial data. The year concluded with a presentation of the campus Happiness Index, now renamed the Well-being Index. Students collected and analysed data from the university community to explore different dimensions of well-being and presented their findings to the campus.

Students actively shape the club by suggesting topics, conducting sessions, preparing presentations, and sharing their knowledge. Practical activities and field visits help connect data with academic and real-world contexts. The club also maintains a website with session resources and learning materials.

More than a space to learn about data, the Quant Society is a student-driven space to explore, experiment, teach, collaborate, and discover what data can do.

The Econ Club at Azim Premji University, Bhopal, began in 2024 with the idea of creating a space where students could explore economics beyond the classroom. After a year of experimenting with different ideas and understanding students’ interests, the club became more active in 2025, focusing on making economics engaging, practical, and connected to everyday life.

Its activities include debates, discussions, quizzes, guest lectures, case studies, research presentations, and conversations on topics such as inflation, inequality, behavioural economics, monetary and fiscal policy, international trade, financial markets, and development economics. Practical activities help students connect classroom concepts with everyday situations. The Advertising Challenge explored creativity, markets, and consumer behaviour, while discussions around A Beautiful Mind and a Game Theory activity introduced students to Nash equilibrium and strategic decision-making.

The club also promotes applied learning. An Introduction to R guest lecture introduced students to working with raw data, developing insights, and documenting analysis using R Markdown. Beyond campus, members have participated in inter-university debates and the Econ Fest at the Bengaluru campus, where the club secured first prize among participating universities.

The club is student-led, with members suggesting topics, conducting research, making presentations, and organising activities. With more than 20 active members, it provides a space to exchange ideas, develop skills, and explore how economics connects with the world around us.

Started in 2023 by students of the MA Education programme, SCI-NAT now has members from both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The club focuses on environmental initiatives such as waste management, watering plants, removing carrot grass, plantation drives and celebrating events such as World Biodiversity Day.

The Dance Club organises workshops and events, including Traditional Dance Night, Jhumair and K‑pop workshops, bringing students together to learn and share diverse dance forms. The Music Club aims to create a vibrant musical environment and plans to organise open mics and expand access to musical instruments. The Art Club develops students’ artistic skills through sketching, painting and other workshops, culminating in exhibitions each semester. It is also exploring nature-based art and art using scrap materials.

Sports

The Sports community at Azim Premji University, Bhopal, has grown steadily since 2023, with student-led clubs creating opportunities to learn, practise, compete, and build lasting connections through sport.

The Basketball Club, founded in 2023, currently has a women’s team of 15 players and a men’s team of eight. Two coordinators conduct beginner sessions, team practices, and weekly workshops, with sessions held three to four times a week. The club aims to encourage students to take up basketball and develop their skills for the future.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club, established in September 2023, has 16 regular members and seven coordinators. It conducts sessions and workshops for beginners and intermediate players and aims to popularise the sport on campus while developing a competitive team. Internal tournaments and free-play sessions help bring more students into the sport.

The Volleyball Club began in 2023 and grew significantly in its second year, when more students joined and the club developed a team, secured equipment, and began working with a coach. Volleyball has taught its members the value of teamwork, perseverance, humility, and resilience — lessons that extend beyond the court.

The Football Club, founded in 2023, now has 25 players, 10 coordinators, a manager, a mentor, and a practice space. It offers sessions from beginner to intermediate levels and was the first club on campus to introduce Strength and Conditioning sessions. It aims to foster a healthy competitive culture and encourage greater participation, particularly among women.

The Kabaddi Club has also grown from a small group of players to an active community with seven coordinators, a mentor, and a practice space. It organises workshops, open houses, free-play sessions, and weekly Strength and Conditioning sessions, with growing participation from women.
