Faculty positions in Music Education

We invite applications for faculty positions in Music Education. This position will be situated within the Music Education Occupational Minor (OM).

The Music Education OM offers five courses (of five credits each) and an optional internship track for students to learn the skills needed to work within the music education sphere. Primarily, this will involve learning the basics of music and learning how to teach music to children, with a focus on music teaching in the school context, particularly at the Preparatory and Middle Stages of school education. This programme is designed to give students the depth necessary to be effective practitioners in this space.

We are looking for candidates who are aligned with the University’s vision and are enthusiastic about contributing to the design, development, and delivery of an innovative music education curriculum. 

Preference will be given to candidates with experience of teaching music in educational institutions (particularly in schools) and a strong grounding in subject content and pedagogy.

Candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks throughout their academic career and we prefer the following qualifications: 

  • Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in any form of music
  • MEd
  • NET or SLET, as recommended by the UGC
  • PhD (desirable)
  • Strong communication and writing skills in English
  • Ability to work collaboratively in academic teams
  • Proficiency in some form of music from India
