Faculty positions in Climate Science

We invite applications for faculty positions in Climate Science.

This position will involve teaching, research, and academic leadership in the field of climate science. You will be contributing to the development and delivery of courses, conducting innovative research, and engaging in scholarly activities related to climate change, its impacts, mitigation, adaptation, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Curriculum Development:

  • Developing and delivering high-quality courses in climate science, emphasizing climate models, data analysis, and their application to societal well-being, at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Creating innovative and engaging teaching materials, assignments, and assessments that incorporate climate models and their outputs.
  • Mentoring and supervising students, providing guidance and support in understanding and utilizing climate model data for societal benefit.

2. Research and Scholarly Activities:

  • Conducting cutting-edge research in climate science with a specific focus on climate models, their application, and the utilization of model outputs to address societal challenges related to climate change.
  • Utilizing climate model data to assess and predict the impacts of climate change on various sectors such as agriculture, public health, urban planning, etc.
  • Publishing research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present research at national and international conferences, emphasizing the practical implications of the research for societal well-being.

3. Service and Collaboration:

  • Engaging in service activities within the academic institution, participating in committees, and contributing to the advancement of the Centre and University.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, policymakers, and stakeholders to translate climate model outputs into actionable information for decision-making that positively impacts societal well-being.
  • Actively participating in community outreach, public education, and policy discussions on utilizing climate model data for societal resilience and sustainability.
  • An advanced degree in Climate Science, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Earth Sciences, or a related field. Candidates with post-graduate degree in relevant fields are also encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated expertise and research experience in climate science, with a focus on climate models, data analysis, and their application to societal well-being.
  • Proficiency in utilizing climate models and related software/​tools to analyze and interpret data for practical applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
